The Beginning

The chief tasker recommended that this journal be kept as a record of travel outside the monastery. The cullers have impressed the need for caution in all things, so very little background will be given. No mention of time will be given.

It is customary that all newmades are assigned to a sect in their twentieth year. We are permitted to stay longer if we wish, but this was not the case. The sect is the Black Ophid. In addition to our considerable martial training, we gained a deeper understanding of the path.

For the past twelve years, there has been much to learn. The discipline of mind control and the ophidian strike were the major schools. A few of the newmades took the long climb up the tower. The taskers felt this was a natural part of the process, and this was accepted. What became of these newmades is not known.

War has been waged from the time before arrival. The monastery is secluded, but it has not been immune to the ravages. Little is known about this war. The taskers say that in time understanding will come. The expectation of joining this war was unfounded. It has ended.

The time came that we were to be sent out into the world. Some of the newmades departed in pairs. It was an honor to be sent out alone into the world. In time, the path will return here. The Way of the Ophid Mind cannot be completed until the training is progressed.

This journal is scribed by the hand of Esan Edamon.
